Gustav Klimt
Adele Bloch- BauerII, 1912
Oil on Canvas
Private Collection
MoMa Museum

This painting is by Gustav Klimt, the mediums done in oil paint, as well as style is a portrait. But it is not realistic. Textures upon this canvas are extremely soft and delicate. The variations of value and colors range. The colors are a mix of cool and warm hues, but they are not your typical colors, that is where values come into play. The composition of this painting is very playful, in the sense that there is a lot of movement of the objects around the woman, even though she is very still and prominent in the foreground.
I had chosen this art piece because I though it was stunning in the color composition, as well as the natural "elements" added. This piece is both intelligent yet elegant. Why? The woman in the foreground has a very strong face, but as well as her attire is very profound and unique. As for the background instead of this being such a serious portrait it is vibrant and exuberant in its colors and objective choice in flowers. Observing this particular art piece i felt a type of emotional relief, in the sense that the woman is taking a breath in her "uptight life". What had stood out the most to me in all was just the background. It literally almost fuzes with the foreground figure in the color composition. For a painting that it done in 1912 i felt like this was not your typical painting. It is very loose and giving to the viewer, where you can play with your imagination a lot more. But it is also almost very traditional because of the victorian woman. I felt relived, and was struck by its colorful beauty.
This is not the first time for me attending the MoMa Museum. At first I was not really dazzled by the certain exhibitions being shown because it had involved a lot of technology. But once i had went to more of the older exhibitions, that were considered of "Modern Art" I felt like this was more appropriate to the name. From taking Art Society this semester, it was truly an exciting class. When i go to different art museums i do definitely see different ways to a approach a painting in ways that the artist himself would like me to view it. In Art Society I learned most importantly how vital art is to society. Without it people would not be able to have a voice or make an impact upon their own community. As a young artist it had truly inspired me to create my own work to reflect how I view society and what should be changed, and what should be done. Hopefully the art community can gather more often and support the general community itself. It was a blessing being in this coarse as well as one of my favorite courses. It made me think, feel enthused about learning more about the art community.

Mirror of the Twin Flames

The quest of elemental missing moons

Vale the quest of burning chance.

Blossom eternal World.

Missing moon, mirror the Twin Flames.

This quest may be picked up by the corresponding Fire Spirit

Fire spirit,
        Mirror the Twin Flames.

Complete the final battle as a day newly tames.

Mists bend air and once again vale two eternal spirits-
Wide spirit complete the quest of time.
                                    Breathe...Breathe, ignite eternal flames-

ever last your ignition.
No trial will defeat elemental spirit.

Mirror the twin flames.

The piece of satellite missions missing
Vale burn look for opportunities
Flowers in the eternal world .
There moon, which is a double flame.
This task may be obtained from the appropriate air heat
Mirror spiritual fire twin flame .
The conclusion of the final battle as the day just to soften.
Air arched lamp , and again, a broad intellectual heritage alcohol Valley 2 hours to complete the task.
Breathing, breathing , looking balanced lighting flames- constantly eternal . But the verdict will be a significant win souls.
Dual mapping calls
How I had translated the poem was by going on google translate. I had used the languages of French, Bulgarian, German, and Chinese. After 10 trials my Flarf poem had come to be.

I am, what I like to say kindred, spiritual, and very loving. This picture identifies me simply that I one with my surroundings. My posture is stiff  but yet elegant. The energies around me blend and all come together. The "tribal make up" is done on my own. To me it is mystical, edgy, and also representing vines of the Earth wrapping across my face as the symbol of moon drops down. This represents Lady Luna, whom in Wicca is the moon goddess. My face paint in total represents the tranquility of life all coming into one. With the elements of Earth water and fire, everything flows, everything is peace. The lighting of the picture, yes is dim and dark, for that represents the part of myself that I tend to hide. At times it may wrap itself around me, but with my posture it is firm, strong. I am grounded, and for the stones and crystals that surround me(concept of Mother Earth) is my protection and guidance in life. In all generally I feel generally that the concepts of peace, love spirituality, creativity and so forth defines who I am. I am love, I am Earth.

El Museo de Barrio

Dear Presente! The Young Lords Group,
Viewing your exhibition in El Museo De Barrio was truly an emotional experience. From the handmade posters, videos, programs, and marches that you have made has touched me. What had touched me the most was the three photos of Puerto Rican Women describing their struggles within the society in which they had to live in. Even though you have just used photographs to display these three women it had told a story individually. Each woman was posed beautifully and oh so naturally. Reading on the side of these photographs of how Puerto Rican women had to make a living was awfully depressing. No woman should be just a traditional house wife, prostitute, and many more restricting life jobs. Do you think telling these women’s stories in El Barrio will serve a change in today’s society? Do you think only specifically Hispanic women in this time served such harsh duties?
The medium that you have used is very classic in which I truly appreciate, photography. Despite the fact it was a simple portrait of these women gazing away, or directly into the camera had shown a very intense visual upon the women. Were these natural poses? Or were the “models” themselves posing for the camera to send a message? Furthermore the audio box with the translation of the women speaking, why was it necessary for there to be an audio effect? Was the intent to make the scenery more dramatic? For the motivational aspect I believe the crowds of people walking through the street could have been great inspiration for you to find a specific cause and or emphasize a cause itself. To justify these women in all not only shows that women matter, but to show major importance of the Hispanic community tiring of such objectification. From what I understand that you are communicating to the public is that, not just other colored, or racial people have been opposed to such prejudice social class. These women, not these three women specifically but all Hispanic Puerto Rican women, and all colored women  deserve equal rights, and job rights for that matter. I believe that your intent is to show the public even in the late 1960’s and going in to the 1970’s that women were still repressed. Showing the world today how your world was then can shock everyone, because it was not so long ago that the ordeal of the Young Lords, racial rights, and women’s rights were apparent. I thank you deeply for showing this to the world today because it speaks for freedom for all women today.

Title: The Golden Heart
Artist: Unknown
Date: 15 years
Culture: Peruvian
Medium: Glass
Dimension: Unknowns

Objects get their meaning by the the people whom have a strong sense of culture and beliefs. Either by their roots from what has been passed down or even if it has religious significance. For whom claims these objects in their values as well have generally a high social class, a high religious stand point, or it could simply family sentiments.  The piece that I have chosen in which I call is the Golden Heart. Despite the given title it is red. Why did I name it Gold? Well I am very intimate with spirituality. Gisela's grandmother had passed down this simple item, down to her. To Gisela this was a very special item, not only because of her grandmother passing this item down to her as a gift. The Heart is meant for luck, happiness, reminiscence upon childhood, and a lot of love. Three years ago when Gisela and I were in a park, she had presented me this beautiful gift. At first i was confused upon my findings. Until I had touched it ample amounts of good and positive energy came from this little item, From when I had first grasped this item in my hand, I felt its purest energy radiate all through my hands and to my arms. My eyes were closed and I had felt around this little item, that gold light had spread and radiated all around it. A truly unspeakable experience.
The simplicity of this heart is classic. It is boldly shapen, has very little detail with a dull shine. No this is no great masterpiece of a glass sculpture, but the personal value and energy source is blatant. Not every individual will understand the concept, but some will. If to be seen in a museum, spectators would be confused perhaps, for they would not know the complexity of such a unique object, but htat is the greatest part, its mystery.

Post 5

The first picture seen is made by Auguste Renoir,  titled In The Meadow made in 1888-92, and the mediums used was oil on canvas. As for the second piece is by an unknown artist but was used in the Wakamiya of Kasuga Shrine, made in the 14th century (1366-92).  The mediums being used are hanging scroll; ink, color, gold, and cut on gold silk. This is considered a painting.
In comparison of both works of art they both utilize nature and feature women. It shows peace, fragility and unity. In contrast the eras, detail, structure, and mediums are completely different. In Auguste Renoir's painting "In the Meadow" you depict two brightly colored females in the foreground on soft grass, gazing upon their surroundings. This is not a realistic art piece, more classified as a representational piece in a 2D form. This is not idealized for it is not completely realistic. It is stylized because the  middle ground to the background are not done in high detail, more or less in a mesh of color. Viewing this particular art piece I had felt Extremely nostalgic, as if I had been there before. I do not know why I had felt so familiarized with it in such a personal manor.I believe due to the soft yet energetic texture in which Auguste had used, color use, temperament, and personal style that is why i had chosen this piece. The oil paint gave this piece such an energy that is the definition transcendent peace. Two girls faced away from the artist plainly enjoy from what you a springs day. As the middle ground and background overlap the textures form almost into one, but still separated. Auguste's intentions for this painting were to represent innocent youth in a meadow. He"plainly" wanted to show the grace of two young girls picking flowers on a beautiful day. The youth are one with their surroundings. Their dresses elegantly compliment the dark pigment of the grass that they lay upon underneath the shade of the tree. Postures upright, but relaxed give you the sense of tranquility to the basic surrounding. In comparison to Wakamiya of Kasuga the character is in the the profile. There is little detail and but depicted there is a whole unity. How? The gold circle around the woman unites the figures shown. This is a representational and stylized painting. As for the form it is completely 2D, there is no sense of depth or realism. The purpose the art piece was to represent the goddess Wakamiya  in a childish like form. Her presence defines deity's immaculate knowledge. The subjective interpretation of this piece is a sense of calmness. The simplicity says more at times then something with many details. A sense of wisdom, stillness, and serenity radiate from this painting.
Why I have chosen these two very different art pieces from these eras is the concept of medium, context, and culture. The style of Japanese art and French art have no similarities, but the temperament given.  Why I think these two works are in the museum is not just go conserve ancient works and classic paintings but to show the viewers what the past had to offer. In terms of interpretation of what past artist have done, the view can see aesthetics, and I think that is the most important thing to view.

BP#4

Romaine Brooks
Chasseresse
1920
Oil on canvas
51.38 x 38.38 in.
Collection of the Smithsonian American Museum, Gift of the artist
Exhibited in: Classical Nudes, October 17, 2014-January 4, 2015

This piece by Romaine Brooks is a more stylized painting, not so realistic nor idealized. It is very much representational, as seen depicted detail is not so much emphasized, only upon the woman's face. Her body is hidden  upon a fur coat.  Her face not in the artists direction, gives it a sense of a lost expression. She seems gentle in a way, but her facial features are very serious, until you see her eyes. Within the models eyes  is a very sad, almost dazed emotion. Her body language is stiff, sharp, and pointed. From what the artist maybe be trying to express to the viewer is that  women are not necessarily dependent upon others or men,  but naked they are to the world, not fragile, there is not sense a weak woman here. Women are not undoubtedly not as strong as men, but they do bear a sense of independence. This figure upholds vulnerability in the look in her eyes. She is still stern in her stance, she is almost rebelling within this picture. How? A strong posture, serious face, her first clenched, and her bold coat.  Berger's ideologies do apply to the painting in a way.  Berger states "(Often in the nude) a woman's body is arranged the way it is, to display it to the man looking at the picture. This picture is made to appeal to his sexuality. It has nothing to do with her sexuality. In the European tradition, the convention of not painting the hair on a woman's body helps towards the same ends. Hair is associated with sexual power, with passion"(3).  How this applies to the painting is that for starters, this woman is not entirely nude, and to what I believe her "pubic hair" her dominance is the fur coat. Romaine Brooks is not portraying a woman in a "man point of view" for she is a woman. Compared to other works of art then men portray women there is a large difference.

1AM Stroll.

One night i was walking home from work, and in my neighborhood their tend to be flowers.  Either in front of a restaurant or simply on a yard. It was 1am. I was looking at everything around me, feeling the wind upon my face, everything was gentle. I turned my head and had seen this delicate flower just growing outwardly and somewhat awkward as well. I thought it was special despite the fact there was many other flowers. Just how the lighting was hitting the petals, showing me the light yellow inside, really took me. Even though this was taken on my iPhone 4.  As the objective there is just a profile, no depth shown. It is natural, and how I have edited it was by a light filter to emphasize the shadows. Textures, are delicate, fine, and not necessarily so course. The interpretation of this picture... I felt was my inner self, self representation so to speak. The flower may grow, develop, but the trials it must face, goes through darkness. In life it is most fragile, but its stem is its strength. The natural colors that the flower gives off is the natural personality that I have, not so dull, but lively in a sense. In all the way that the flowers grows in a distorted manor, not so upright. That is what I love the most, because to me I am always growing in every way, hence every direction. No matter what you will never cease to grow.

Untitled

This is "Untiled" by Five. The objective from the piece, is the colors. The insanity of it all, all analogous  colors with a splash of cool colors. I claim this as an abstract piece. It place with your emotions in a sense of wanting to break away, maybe gain freedom and develop. There is no foreground, background, or middle ground.  Completely organic I will say. Your eye has no complete direction, at first. Your eyes go in all directions. But what is the artist trying to communicate? You see the frustration, and very fast strokes. The visual elements as far as texture is very smudged. Most line work is horizontal. The shape is not geometric at it is all quite organic. To define this object in the center of the painting is like a human and or monkey separating, but within a paradox of moving within the "bodies". Otherwise the object would be undefinable, you would have to play with your own imagination to try to get a proper interpretation. As an abstract piece, it is very dark, despite the colors emitted through the painting.
As a personal interpretation of this painting is chaos. The separation of two beings, or just one being completely distorted. You feel and almost hear the screaming of this painting. Senselessness and imbalance of emotion is oh so clear. I feel it is the never ending pain  of the artist. You see in his strokes, disorientation, almost bloody as well. Is it murder? Who knows, overall this is just such a powerful piece, that has left me breathless.

Photo

Okay so this particular photo was taken in Woodstock New York. My fiance and I have been traveling around New York from time to time and were just relaxing in a creek. She is an artist as well as a photographer. I wanted to share this with you because in my day to day life I am always exploring nature, especially with her. This photo is considered 2-D I believe, and why I had chosen this picture specially even if it it is not a painting, drawing, or even a sculpture, I take nature as art with in itself. Sometimes you do not need to paint it in order to say it is art, but to show its true essence.
I feel why this particular artist had chosen this picture is because it gives you the luxury of a fantasy. There is no limitation of where this picture can't take you. From how it was taken with the trees fading into the distance, is a sense of mystery, and peace.
The colors are limited they are cold colors. But emotionally in a sense it does not feel as so.
The artist had the freedom to choose anywhere she wanted and yet she chose for where earth meets water. I feel like there was a deep spiritual connection with in this incorporated with in this picture.
What I think people may see and grasp from this image may be, almost creep, or mysterious. They may not know where to go or be. As well as other individuals can see what I see in which that it is freedom, life naturally flourishing, breathing, this may be a still picture but you feel as if it were moving.

Self Introduction

Hi, my name is Christina Canonico. My ethnic background is Dominican and Italian. The picture above is an older picture didn't have any recent ones, haha sorry. But, about myself is that I love to draw, paint, model, explore, listen to music. I am very open minded about a lot of things; when it comes to spirituality, cultural beliefs, and so on.
I am fascinated and love the ideology of love. The concept f it the energy shared and produced. All my life I lived by it. I have a fiance with me whom is also my best friend. As life moves on step by step i tend to grasp so many new experiences good or bad, I still constantly learn., and that's what i enjoy. Being as a young artist i am always finding new ways to progress. Mt fiance and i have our own fashion company, by her side, i design graphic t-shirts and so on. It is an amazing experience.
Over all i am just your average outgoing individual, who loves life with-in itself in its purest essence.
